"My
son was recently a recipient
of your kindness and generosity and I did not want it to go unnoticed.
My son was seriously injured in Iraq on the 28th of October. He arrived
at Walter Reed on the 7th of November. Within the first week he was
given a wonderful quilt that has been surrounding him with warmth ever
since! It is nice to know there are some very warm
and generous people trying to make a difference in this difficult time.
My son is expected to have a 100% recovery and we are grateful for
that. He is a soldier first and
foremost as he is already talking about the next deployment! He has
along raod ahead of him,
but he is a very determined young man. Thanks again for your support."
"Hello,
I cannot thank you girls enough for the love you have shown a stranger.
Sometimes, here
at the hospital, times can get tough, and it brightens my heart to know
there are people out there that care about us. Your gifts where
beautiful and I shall cherish them. Anyhow, I just wrote to say thank
you and you will not be forgotten. I can only hope there are other
soldiers
that receive the love and encouragement that I have. God bless."
"I
cannot adequately express in words how gratefully our Mighty Warriors
and their families received your gift of kindess as they undergo such
difficult times in their lives. It's a blessing to be a part
of your caring, compassionate acts of service. I hope you know the
positive impact your acts of kindness
and rememberence has had on our Soldiers and staff." ~ Chaplain
Kallerson, Walter Reed Army Medical Center
"My
son was injured in Iraq on April 19th and was flown to Walter Reed Army
Medical Center where he spent almost 21 days in ICU. He will not walk
again and also had a skull fracture. But he is fainlly going home to
the VA Hospital
in Chicago. I just wanted to thank you for the quilt that was given to
him today.
I read your letter to him and also showed him the picture from little
Kelly and he
smiled. I want to thank you so much. Brian is the youngest of four and
his sister and brothers are having a hard time with this, and so are
we. But there has been such
warm help and friendly people to help and love these brave soldiers
that come back
home broken and hurt. Again, thank you so much for your love and caring
of these guys. PS. Tell Kelly that Brian is wearing the bandaid she
sent."
"I
am a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army. I was wounded while
conducting combat operations in Iraq. Ma'am, I received a quilt from
your organization while I was visiting the hospital in Balad. I would
like to extend my gratitude to you and Ms. Connie Leavitt for
everything you have done for us as serviceman and women. In a time when
I was feeling a bit uncomfortable, I would never have thought that
a quilt would make me feel at ease. Once again please pass along my
appreciation to Ms. Leavitt and your organization for the quilt, and to
your daughter, please let her know that the band-aid could not have
come at a better time. My daughter gave me one before I left home, I
gave it to a member on our team because he got hurt, so thank you very
much for replacing my band-aid. Thanks again for everything."
"I
want to THANK YOU all for the "Quilt of Valor". In forty-one (41)
years, I now have a True Treasure, which I can hand down through my
Daughters!!! THANK YOU AGAIN for Your Thoughtfulness. GOD's Speed!!!"
"I
wish you could all be here to watch each of the recipients as they
carefully examine and admire the workmanship in your quilts. I have to
say that I was surprised when I saw the level of interest and enjoyment
expressed by some of these combat veterans as they have received their
quilts. They talk about the fabric patterns that have special meaning
and clearly appreciate the effort that went into making them. They fill
practical needs as well. One patient with severe leg injuries was
particularly grateful to have his quilt because he said the brown Army
issue blanket he had was so itchy it was driving him crazy! We often
have relatives come to Andrews to greet their returning warriors, and
your quilts are a great comfort to them as well. We send special thanks
to all of you who provided pillowcases to hold your quilts. They make
them easier to handle by some whose injuries make a loose quilt harder
to carry, and make for a welcome rest for heads, arms and legs during a
long flight." ~Tim Sumner, Aeromedical Staging Facility at Andrews AFB.

uncontrollabely,
and never regret anything that made you smile."
