Quilts
of Valor is a non-profit foundation and almost the entire budget
comes from
the back pockets of its volunteers. Donations are the backbone of our
organization. Without them, we will be hard-pressed to continue. Please
read on to see how you can help.
Material
Donations
You can make a donation of high quality** fabric, batting, quilt
blocks, backing material or even an entire quilt top (minimum finished
size of 50x60, please include matching backing)
either at our monthly bee meet or at one of our four quilt shop partners. We are swimming in fat quarters, yardage is what's needed most. We especially need
backing material. A minimum of 4 yards per quilt.
Quilt
Top Donations
If you have the time and energy to make an entire quilt top**, we are
more than willing to take it off your hands! The minimum
finished size is 50 x60 inches. But it should not be larger than twin
size(72 x 96). Since we are taking care of having it machine quilted,
labeled, putting the binding on, and shipping to it's final
destination, we do ask that you provide matching backing (to be a
surplus of 4 inches on each side of the top to allow for drawing up.)
And we respectfully request that you include $10 to help cover the
costs of shipping.
Monetary
Donations
By making a monetary donation, you enable us to purchase matching
materials for ongoing and upcoming projects. The average cost of
materials per quilt is about $140.
The cost of shipping can run anywhere from $11.50 to $30 per quilt. You
can also make a donation of a gift certificate from one of our partnering
quilt shops. Or a
gift certificate to Joanne Fabrics.
Sponsorship
Civic groups, businesses, and individuals can help us further by
sponsoring a QOV. By providing the money for materials and shipping,
you allow us to make an additionl quilt. Your group will receive
recognition on the quilt label.
Special
Donations
We are currently looking for people with embroidery machines who can
assist us in making handsome pillowcases to ship with the QOVs, and
also to embroider the labels for our QOVs. If you have an embroidery
machine with patriotic patterns and would like to assist this way,
please contact us!
As always, anyone wanting to send a get well card and letter of
encouragement please feel free to get those to us so we can include
them with the QOV. Please note, however, that the envelope should NOT
be sealed so the chaplain or volunteer service chief can screen the
incoming mail.
